PROS LTRS in Guthrie, Oklahoma

Prior to starting FindersCreepers, our founder Tim was an investigator and the Public Relations Manager for PROS Investigations here in Oklahoma. During his tenure with PROS, Tim experienced countless paranormal events... and although he can't begin to describe them all here, there were a few nights that really stood out from the rest. One of them was the night of May 16th of 2008. Here is his account of that most fascinating night.

Saturday, May 16th at the PROS LTRS, (long-term research site)

As Paranormal Investigators, most nights simply involve a long drive, staying up late and spending lots of money for the occasional rap, tap or bang in the night. Then you have the long drive home… at a time where even the busiest highways are void of traffic. Every once in a while, however, something happens, something so strange and so incredible that it's difficult to wrap your mind around it. The night of May 16^th-17^th was one of those extremely rare nights where so many things happened that it left our team excited, intrigued and fascinated in ways I can't describe…and for some of us, it left us emotionally and physically drained. It was a night we will never forget. A night that erased any doubts I had left as to weather or not something exists on "the other side". We are ghost hunters… we love what we do and this was the kind of night we live for.

We started with our typical walk-through investigation. We covered each floor carefully and methodically, but nothing unusual occurred. The EVP session that followed revealed many interesting EVP, but we are used to that. We ALWAYS get EVP at the LTRS, and lots of them. After a quick break, we all joined on the upper level for our first sit-down of the night. It was interesting to say the least. We experienced lots of raps, taps and bangs… we even heard voices, several times. Voices we could not explain. The voices were male, definitely male and very deep - we couldn't quite make out what was being said for the most part, but the voice was distinct none-the-less. If this had been a tour night, and this was the end of the tour, our guests would surely have been satisfied that they had experienced something super-natural. If this were all that we would experience that night, we would have all left the site satisfied that it was a "good" evening…and that it was "interesting" as Ron likes to say. Ron isn't moved by very much… he is our leader and he's been doing this for over 30 years. There isn't a lot he hasn't seen or heard. But tonight would be different… and the voices we heard upstairs would soon be lost from our memories, cause next we headed down to the basement.

Tonight we tried something new. It's called ITC, short for Instrumental TransCommunication. ITC is defined as a field of research in nonphysical or paranormal communication through electronic devices. In this case, we simply added a small radio to our sit-down. The radio was set to a channel that only produced what we refer to as "white noise". Our hopes were that any spirit activity in the building could use that radio as a means to communicate with us, or that the white noise itself would aid in their ability to leave us some quality EVP. So the volume was set and the group began the sit-down as we had so many times in the past. One of our investigators, Christina, was doing the questioning tonight, and instantly we began to hear responses in the background. First it was a faint, feminine voice somewhere in the back of the white noise - but we also heard male voices too.

From here on out, I can only describe the events as I witnessed them. I'm sure each and every member of our group that was present that night had their own unique experiences to relay, but I will let them do that themselves in their own words.

A very short time into the investigation, I began to see small flickering lights in front of me. I was sitting just inside the door to the shower room, which is in the basement of the LTRS. I was facing an old door opposite from where I was sitting. It was there that the lights danced in front of me. Some of the lights were gold and white… more were red, but predominately the lights were of a blue hue. I then saw shadows moving across the walls… you must understand that it is very dark in the basement of the LTRS. The only illumination came from a black light in the room adjacent to us, and the tiny lights on our EMF detectors and voice recorders. Because of the darkness, it is very difficult to make out exactly what it is you are seeing. I needed someone to see this with me… I needed validation, so I asked Anthony to come sit next to me. Anthony didn't want to move, for he had a great view looking outside of the shower room, but he got up and joined me anyways. Another light danced before me... I looked over to Anthony and said, "Did you…?" "Yes!" He said! "I saw it!" It was a little red light just between the voice recorder and the EMF detector positioned on the steps. Thank goodness he saw it… I wasn't "seeing things" after all! For the next several minutes, Anthony and I enjoyed the light show… suddenly, Ron said, "Did y'all just see the light? It was a small blue light that just…" Oh yes! I was so excited that our fearless leader had witnessed it too! That is the ultimate validation and it meant so much to me that he had seen it; I literally got a lump in my throat. What a relief….

As the light show performed in front of us, the voices were still being heard. Some were imbedded in the static of the radio, and yet others were right there in the room with us! Several times, I heard a woman's voice… loud and distinct coming from my left… but there was no one to the left of me. Every time I heard the voice I would ask for validation and every time the voice had been heard by Anthony or Ron or Karen or Christina or Jeff. We all heard the voices. To hear a voice from somebody that is not visible to you is an amazing experience… it makes your hair stand on end… not because you are afraid, but because you are bearing witness to something that most people will never experience. It is why we do what we do. And we were in the middle of one of the most memorable nights we would ever have as ghost hunters.

More shadows began moving across the walls in front of and to the side of me. I rubbed my eyes and looked harder… it was amazing… surely my eyes couldn't be playing tricks on me! I saw a black mass standing in the corner… it moved down towards the ground as if it knew I could see it and was trying to hide. It moved closer to me and as it did, I could feel the air begin to get cold…very cold. I looked to my left where the blackness had come and in the darkness I made out what appeared to be a faint white glow in the air. The glow became more pronounced and for a moment it appeared to be a man's face… there in the air looking directly at me. I hollered over to Jeff. Jeff is a very gifted investigator and has the ability to sometimes see things the rest of us cannot see. I asked Jeff if someone was standing next to me. His response was something like, "To be honest with you Tim, they're all around us right now." I looked back to my left and although the coldness was still present, the mass and the face had gone. I saw the shadow move across the wall to my left… it moved quickly across the wall and then darted to the right disappearing into the doorway. My heart skipped a beat and I was just about to ask if anybody else had seen it when Ron asked the very same question. Again… the boss had seen exactly what I had seen.

It was then that I sat back and decided to just enjoy the experience. I was listening to my fellow team members trying to describe the things they were witnessing. I hugged Anthony, for this was one of the most bonding experiences one could imagine. The next thing you know, Ron said it was time to wrap. It was late and we had been down there a long time. I stood up and looked around. Christina's eyes were wet with tears…Jeff was exhausted… Anthony was grinning from ear to ear. Ron was exuberant in his calm as always manner and Karen stretched and smiled and we left the room.

One last thing happened that night that must be mentioned. As we were gathering up our equipment, Anthony and I returned to the basement to recover our cameras. We paused to discuss how we could feel that "they" were still with us. We thanked them for the interaction. We told them how much we enjoyed them this night. We asked them to never fear us and to please join us again in the future. With camera in hand, we began to walk across the room towards the exit… but as I was about to reach the door, I bumped into what I can only describe as a very distinct, very pronounced ice cold mass. I stopped and looked at Anthony. "Did you feel that?" I asked? He thrust his hand into the mass and immediately his arms got covered in goose bumps. Our hair was standing on end as the mass moved… we followed it. The movement felt very deliberate… it's impossible to describe, but it definitely felt like the mass was intelligent. We followed the mass across the room until it left the shower room and entered into the room with the old furniture. It was gone… and it was amazing. Anthony and I looked at each other… both of us were flabbergasted by what we had just experienced. It was a truly remarkable experience.

The night was over… and after a quick meeting outside, we all left the LTRS and headed home. I realized that any doubts I had lingering in the back of my mind were gone. It seems that the more experiences we share, the more questions we have and although I may not understand all that we were blessed to witness that night, I do know now that there is something else to our existence - something we do not understand and maybe never will. But we will continue to go into the dark places and try to find as many answers as we can…cause that is what we do, and we just plain love doing it.
