Haunting Investigation of a Business

13 September 2010

El Alex Mexican Restaurant in Oklahoma City

Firstly, the FindersCreepers team would like to thank Maria, (the restaurants owner) and her husband Juan for their amazing hospitality during our investigation. They closed the restaurant early for us and stood by patiently for over 7 hours while we scoured the place in search of logical explanations for some of the many phenomena that has been reported there. Then, (as if that in wasn't enough in itself) after our investigation was completed, they treated us to a fantastic Mexican feast at 3:30 in the morning! We are truly grateful to these incredible people and will always consider them as true friends of the FindersCreepers Paranormal Research Team!

Now then, let's get started with the results of our investigation.

Preliminary Meeting & Interviews

Representing FindersCreepers

  • Season Townley-Suarez, Previous Public Relations Manager

  • Alberto Suarez, Previous Investigator for FindersCreepers

Representing the Restaurant

  • Maria, Owner

  • Juan, Spouse

Before I begin a description of our interview with the restaurant's owner, I would like to take a moment to thank two of our former members, Season and Alberto Suarez, for conducting the initial interview. They provided us with a wonderful foundation on which to continue the investigative process and although they are no longer with us, their efforts have not been forgotten as we continued to explore this most fascinating location. That being said, I will go over some of the key points we learned during the interview process.

  • Maria's family took over the buildings 33 years ago.

  • Maria's Mother died in 2005 from cancer.

  • Her father, maintained an apartment above the restaurant until he died in 2007 as the result of a sudden illness. He never had a chance to say his goodbyes. The family had his viewing in a space adjacent to the restaurant.

  • Shortly after her father's death a worker cleaning the bathroom in the restaurant heard a female voiced tell her "It's okay, leave it alone". She came out of the bathroom to see if anyone was around, but of course, there was not. This is the only time a female voice has been heard.

  • Maria's Father was always at the restaurant, the bar, or in his room above the restaurant. He spent more time there then anywhere else. The bedroom he stayed in is still as he left it; complete with his unmade bed, his shoes, a couple of sprite cans (his favorite drink), his clothes, etc.

  • Maria's brother was working in the kitchen and had a towel over his shoulder. Suddenly the towel was pulled from him and fell to the floor. The only person around was Maria who witnessed it.

  • Soon after his death, a lady working in the building actually claims the father had hugged her and wished her a Happy Mother's Day. She apparently did not know that he had recently passed away.

  • Maria's daughter has witnessed the wind chimes in the restaurant moving by themselves and claims to have felt a presence nearby.

  • The radio has turned itself on and begun playing the father's favorite song.

  • When the father passed away, Maria and her sisters went looking for a gold chain and pendant that her father had always worn. It was not on his person and they were unable to locate it. She has a family member that was with him when he became ill, and he claims to not have it. Maria would like for us to ask where the necklace is.

  • Many people have seen the apparition of Maria's father. His image has been seen inside the restaurant, walking outside, in the upstairs window, at the attached bar and in the alleyway out back.

Baselines

Outside temperature in Fahrenheit: 34°

Relative Humidity: 48%

Dew Point: 33° F

Barometer: 30.14 m

Wind Speed: WSW 4 mph

Weather Conditions: Partly Cloudy

Lunar Cycle: First Quarter 53% Full

Solar X-rays: Active

Geo-magnetic Fields: Quiet

During our preparation for an investigation, we document all conditions relative to our research including weather conditions, moon phase, Geo-Magnetic Field, etc. Upon arrival to the restaurant, we met again with Maria and her Husband, and set up our base station in the Southwest corner of the restaurant. Once all of our equipment was set up and checked, the investigative team set out to retrieve baselines of temperature and EMF in all rooms and sections of the building.

Noteworthy: Although the majority of all lights, etc. were turned off during the investigation, this is a restaurant with a lot of EMF throughout, therefore all EMF hits received were taken in that light.

Results of the Investigation

EVP / Ghost Box Communication

Here are a few samples of the many EVP we captured during the investigation.

This EVP was captured upstairs in the founders apartment during the walk-through by Cheyenne and Susie. You'll need your headphones for this one, but it sounds to us like a male voice saying, "we saw you."

This EVP was captured downstairs in the main dining area of the restaurant. Tim was asking if the white noise we were broadcasting was too loud. We recorded this male voice replying, "loud."

All in all, we recorded the following number of voice communications.

Class A: 1

Class B: 3

Class C: 21

Ghost Box: 3

Disembodied Voices: Several members heard voices in during our main group sitdown, however none of us were able to understand what was being said.

Knock test response: Several interesting, though not necessarily “intelligent” responses as well as a couple that seemed to be very interactive with us. The following is an example of one of those:

Here you can listen to Tim asking for our invisible friend(s) to finish the "Shave and a Haircut" tune for us using the lights of the K-II Meter. You may also consider the delight in Rose's voice as confirmation that the lights did in fact light up twice to complete the tune!

K-II Hits: Although extremely rare, the FindersCreepers team witnessed several full episodes of interactive communication with the K-II meter.

  • During the first episode; Tim, Christi and Rose were investigating upstairs. We were asking questions of the deceased founder of the restaurant with no result. Soon thereafter, we redirected our questioning to the current owners deceased Mother. The results were a series of seemingly intelligent “hits” on the meter.

  • During the walk-through by Susie and Cheyenne, they received a strong K-II hit that lasted for quite some time. They asked if someone was in the building that was causing the device to light up, and if so, to please turn it back off. The lights immediately went off. They asked for the person to light it up one more time, and it immediately responded by illuminating all the lights, up to and including the red LED.

  • Later that evening, the entire FindersCreepers team along with the restaurant's owner and her husband were all sitting in the main dining area of the restaurant. Well into this sit-down session, we experienced another series of seemingly intelligent interaction with an unknown entity.

Unexplainable Battery drain/equipment stoppage: 1

  • Tim's voice recorder shut itself off midway through our group sit-down in the main dining area of the restaurant. Upon restart, it showed the battery at full charge and functioned flawlessly throughout the remainder of the investigation.

Photographic anomalies: One photo with an orb in motion, but we are unable to determine if it is any more then a standard dust orb. Note: This, along with other photo's of the investigation are available in the Mexican Restaurant folder of our Photo Album.

Video anomalies: An interesting “bouncy ball” sound of unknown origin was recorded, as well as a a few light anomalies.

Other Noteworthy:

  • While doing an investigation in the upstairs hallway, Morgan and Tim both heard a scraping sound. Upon turning around, it was found that a cord hanging from the ceiling was swinging on its own accord. There was no moving air or any other situation they could find to explain why it had started to swing on its own.

  • During the same time period, Morgan felt what she described as hands on her shoulders pushing her downward. At the same time, Tim felt a strong “9 volt” sensation and noticed that their K-II meter was registering a strong spike.

  • While still upstairs, both Tim and Morgan witnessed seeing a faintly lit orb moving from one side of the hallway to the other.

  • In the downstairs dining area, Tim constructed a make-shift pendulum to demonstrate how it could be used during a paranormal investigation. He asked for the age of the deceased person in our presence, first number of the age first. The pendulum slowly shifted its position and began to point towards the number 6 on his chart. When asked for the second number of the age, it changed it's position to point to the number 3. Although unknown prior to this time, it was later revealed to us by Maria, that her deceased Mother was indeed 63 years old when she passed away.

  • During walk-through, Christi reported seeing shadows moving in the hallway ahead of us. These shadows were also witnessed by Tim moving from one room to another.

  • During the group sit-down investigation, several team members heard what they described as “whispering” in the room with us. These voices were heard several times by Tim, Cheyenne, Christi, Susie and Morgan.

Conclusion:

We had a great time during the investigation and once again wish to thank Maria and Juan for their amazing hospitality.

During the investigation we had several personal experiences, witnessed faint orbs and shadows moving throughout the building, had two interactive K-II sessions and recorded many quality EVP, (Electronic Voice Phenomenon). We can only conclude that there definitely appears to be some paranormal activity present at the location.

This location definitely warrants further attention, and we will work with Maria to schedule a follow-up investigation so that we can continue to document the impressive events surrounding this amazing location.

Although FindersCreepers never charges for a paranormal investigation, please know that our work is very time-consuming & expensive. Any donations we receive are always gratefully accepted and very-much appreciated. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can offer!
